So many of you ask me what I really think about the market, so let me tell you.
Every now and then real estate turns into a big game of Monopoly. Everyone rolls the dice, copies their neighbor, buys to flip, and hopes the music never stops. Some people do great. Others come late to the party and end up asking for one more drink at the housing bar.
I'll be honest: I've bought to flip myself, and I've helped plenty of flippers become the envy of their friends. So I won't be too critical. But when the game slows down, you see who real estate is truly good for.
It's good for the family buying a home to live in, raise kids in, and maybe one day trade for a beach condo. It's good for the wise investor who buys smart and holds while the neighborhood grows around them. It's good for anyone in it for the long run.
And if you bought something thinking you'd flip it fast, try looking at it another way. Move in. Love it. Let it be your home for a while, and let time do its job.
It happens like this sometimes: you make an investment, and along the way it turns into a home. From a certain point of view, that's the better game.
You can call it the American Dream. Get in the driver's seat, we are going home.
